The Brushed by Nature Student Workbook is a 10-week Visual Arts resource aligned with the NSW Stage 5 Visual Arts Syllabus, supporting students to explore artistic practice through Aboriginal cultural perspectives, the work of Lorna Crane, and the art of brush-making using natural materials.

Through this workbook, students will:

• Investigate Aboriginal art practices, connecting with concepts of Country and cultural significance.

• Explore the practice of Lorna Crane, focusing on her innovative handmade brushes and experimental mark-making.

• Create their own brushes using natural and found materials, fostering sustainability, problem-solving, and innovation.

• Experiment with techniques of mark-making and painting, developing skills in practice-led inquiry.

This syllabus-aligned workbook embeds:
