Impressionist Landscape Assessment Notification 

The Impressionist Landscape Assessment Notification invites students to explore the expressive and transitory qualities of light, color, and atmosphere through the lens of the Impressionist movement. Inspired by the works of Claude Monet and other key artists of the period, students will create a landscape painting that reflects the ever-changing beauty of nature. The task encourages deep reflection on the fleeting nature of light, while also linking artistic practice to influences.

Learning Goals:

• Artistic Technique: Develop technical skills using Impressionist painting techniques, including short, thick brushstrokes and vibrant color palettes to capture light and atmosphere.
• Artworld Concepts: Understand and apply key Artworld concepts (Artist, Artwork, Audience, and World) to create a meaningful landscape artwork that demonstrates the relationship between the artist's intention and their medium.
• Creativity & Expression: Use creativity and original thought to convey an emotional response to the landscape, fostering a deeper connection with the subject.
• Critical Reflection: Reflect on the historical influence on and artistic choices. 

Outcomes: This assessment task aligns with the following outcomes:

• VA5-AMC-01: Making and refining artworks to represent different ideas informed by an understanding of Artworld concepts.
• VA5-AMV-01: Applying and evaluating viewpoints to refine artistic intent and represent meaning in artworks.

This assessment task allows students to engage with artistic techniques whiler fostering a deeper understanding of art as both a personal and creative expression.
