Natural Ink – Sustainable Artmaking Task

This two-page practical artmaking task guides students through the process of creating their own natural ink from materials gathered from their local environment. The activity encourages sustainable thinking, creative experimentation and thoughtful consideration of how natural materials can be transformed into artistic resources.

Students follow a clear, step-by-step process from collecting and preparing materials through to extracting, straining and testing their natural ink. The task also provides opportunities for students to reflect on the colours, marks and possibilities created through their experimentation.
